Application In Leather Making
Causticsoda 99, also known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), are used in tanning to remove hair and flesh from animal hides and to prepare them for the tanning process.
In the tanning process, the hides are first soaked in a solution of caustic soda flakes and water. The caustic soda helps to break down the protein structures in the hair and flesh, making them easier to remove. The solution also helps to remove any residual fat and oils from the hides, which can interfere with the tanning process.
