Application In Cellulose Pulp
Solid caustic soda , also known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), play an important role in the production of cellulose pulp, which is used to make a wide variety of paper products.
In the production of cellulose pulp, caustic soda flakes are used in a process called "kraft" pulping, which is a common method for producing high-quality pulp from wood chips. In the kraft pulping process, the wood chips are cooked in a solution of caustic soda flakes and sodium sulfide to break down the lignin and other non-cellulose components of the wood. The resulting pulp is then washed and bleached to produce a high-quality cellulose pulp.
Caustic soda flakes are also used in other pulping processes, such as soda and sulfite pulping, which are used to produce different types of pulp from a variety of raw materials. In these processes, caustic soda flakes may be used to adjust the pH of the solution and to break down certain components of the raw material.
