Application In The Regeneration Of Used Rubber
Caustic soda flakes, also known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), can be used in the regeneration of used rubber, a process commonly known as "devulcanization."
Devulcanization is a process that breaks down the cross-linking bonds in vulcanized rubber, allowing it to be reused in new products. This process involves the use of chemical agents, such as caustic soda flakes, to break down the sulfur bonds that hold the rubber molecules together.
In the devulcanization process, the used rubber is first ground into small particles and mixed with a solution of caustic soda flakes. The mixture is then subjected to heat and mechanical shear forces, which break down the sulfur bonds and allow the rubber molecules to recombine into a more fluid state.
Once the devulcanization process is complete, the regenerated rubber can be mixed with new rubber and other additives to create new products, such as tires, gaskets, and other rubber-based products.
