Application In Soap Making
Caustic soda flakes, also known as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), are commonly used in soap making as an alkali to react with fats and oils to create soap. In fact, caustic soda is one of the primary ingredients in the traditional method of soap making, known as cold-process soap making.
When making soap, an alkali such as caustic soda is needed to react with the fats and oils in a process called saponification.
